Intel Broadwell brings several improvements over the current Haswell generation. The most remarkable one is a die shrink to 14 nanometers from 22nm. This enables physically smaller CPUs, better power efficiency, and cooler operation. Another important improvement is in the integrated graphics department, with expected somewhat smoother gaming than on the corresponding Haswell Intel Core chips. The 14nm Cherry Trail SoC brings the same kind of improvements when compared to the Bay Trail.
The announced processors will be available starting this month.
